Monarch Coffee

Monarch coffee is my number one favorite coffee shop and I am so happy that I got to come back here to review it. They have two locations, one is located in midtown just off of Broadway Boulevard, and the other is located downtown on Grand Boulevard. Although the location on Broadway is more popular the Grand location is one I come back to time and time again. Both of them have very different atmospheres. The Broadway location has a quirky feel, still very clean but there are nice details inside like the micro tiled floor and the floral printed booths that match the wallpaper lining the perimeter of the shop. Its always buzzing with people and its a good spot to bring a friend if you are out on the town and want to catch up and do something nice. But my personal favorite is the one located on Grand. There is more space than you can imagine to spread out and do work. They have booths, large tables, bar seating, desks, hightop tables, and a lounge area. It also is a little hard to find with its very minimal logo tucked underneath a corporate building. It blends into its surroundings but it defiantly is a little gem in the city. The interior is very clean and modern and is overall just a nice environment to be in. The one on Grand tends to be almost empty every time I go. This makes it perfect for studying if you just need a quiet place to put your head down and get some work done. It defiantly has a corporate office feel to it. The menu is also very unique. They have new drinks on the menu every season! The service here is also very different from other shops I've been to. There was only one barista at the bar and they let you know to sit and they will bring your order to you, unlike most shops where they just call out the order for you. This time around I decided to stick with a classic oat milk cortado and a plain croissant. It did not disappoint. The cortado was very smooth and the espresso that they pulled had a nice rich flavor to it. The croissant was super light and airy. All of their pasties look delicious are are displayed very neatly. The hours that they are open at the Grand location are also a little different from most shops, and are only open on weekdays. I cannot emphasis enough how important it is to remember, because I cannot count the number of times I make the trip downtown to come here only to be reminded that its Saturday when their door is locked. If you are looking for a luxurious coffee shop that has an exclusive feel this is the place to be.
